Aurora,
I just came back from your Pre-K celebration of your 5th birthday. I watched you as everyone sang to you and I saw my baby has become a little girl. You make me so proud every day.
You love to plan (I don't know where you get that from ;) ) and so you helped plan your birthday party this past weekend, along with your 6th and 7th birthday party! Just to be prepared! Oh how you make me laugh!
We did have a wonderful time at your fairy and dragon party. A fairy named Rosemary came and played games with you and your friends, sang songs, read a book, and even painted faces! You looked like you were having an amazing time!
We then of course went to Disneyland for your actual birthday (and the next day too since it was on Labor Day). We got to do the night time parade which you said you loved! And then the next day, Grandma spoiled you and took you to the Bibbidi Bobbidi Boutique! You chose to be Ariel and got all dressed up! You looked beautiful (as you always do!). Gaston even came by and kept calling you fish and asked you to marry him! You said NO, you said you had a boyfriend already, Ryder! You also enjoyed the Monorail, Autopia, Small World, and of course meeting Cinderella, Ariel, Snow White, Tinkerbell, Minnie, and Mickey!
This past year I have really seen you grow! You can now write your name (and very legible too!) and your drawings have gotten very impressive as well, from circles being all a person was, so now a full fledged stick person (sometimes even with clothes!). You love to be creative and do all sorts of crafts. You are also quite inquisitive and love to ask questions and want to know why things happen the way they do.
You still love books and we read at least two a night! You are starting to learn some of your words and told me your goal for this year was to learn how to read! I know you will get there! I love our reading time together at night. You still love for me to sing to you at night as well and I hope you still want that for awhile. I love my snuggle time with you and am glad that you still want to be close to momma!
This year, we also got to go on a big adventure and did a girls trip! You and I flew by ourselves to Florida and then met up with Grandma! We did a day at Universal Studios, where you were not the biggest fan, but did like the Dr. Seuss area and the Curious George area! The next day we went to DisneyWorld and we stayed at Port Orleans - Riverside in the Princess Room. It was magical! You LOVED being in that room! We then went and had breakfast with Rapunzel and Flynn Ryder (who you LOVED), plus Eric and Ariel. After that was Epcot for some fun, your favorite being the Frozen Ride, The next day was the Magic Kingdon where we got to have breakfast in Cinderella's Castle and you met lots of princesses! And then went on your favorite ride, the Seven Dwarfs Mine Ride!
So many more things have happened this year, and I have just been in awe watching you take it all on and can't wait to see what this year will bring!!
I love you to the moon, the stars, and the planets, and pluto! Always and forever!

3.5 Years!
Aurora,
Oh my goodness, how you have grown! I look at pictures from just a year ago and you still looked like a baby/toddler. You still had your pacifier with you and I could see my baby. Now, you are such a little girl. It is truly amazing to watch you and listen to you. Daily I am amazed by what you say and do.
Right now, you have the most amazing imagination. You have created this whole other world that you share with me daily. You have created a palace, that lives between the human world and the unicorn world. You tell me that a boy who is so old (because he is 4) named Connor Lucas lives there and he takes care of your unicorns. Because, of course, you have many unicorn pets in a variety of colors and sizes! This world you have created has so many details to it that you share. And, my favorite part is that when you are happy with Daddy or I, you will tell us that we are on the list (to get into your palace) and if you are mad at us, we are off the list. I truly hope you keep this creative side of you as it is so wonderful!
You also are so clever and smart. Your teachers are constantly telling me how clever you are. The other day, one of the teachers who only works the afternoons, asked when you would be 5. I looked confused and then said she is only 3. He thought you were going to kindergarten next year as you were so ahead of your peers. Apparently, you decided to be the teacher and had all the kids sit down and you taught them science class. The teacher had to come over and tell the kids to run around because they had been sitting so long, listening to you! You then took that as a cue to turn your class into ballet class, so it was active! If you are already doing this at 3, I can't wait to see what you accomplish when you are older!
You have really gotten into dance lately as well. You love to listen to music and just get up and dance now. It is really cute, if we are eating out and you hear a song you like, you just get up and dance. I also hope you keep this and just dance! Your face just lights up and I can see how happy you are.
You have also become quite the fashion diva. You refuse to let us pick your clothes out. You have to do it and you usually prefer dresses over anything else. At the moment, your look, as Daddy describes it, is bag lady look. A lot of layers, crazy prints together, and all sorts of things! I love it and think it is hilarious and am just fine if you keep this your style!! Much better than super short skirt and crop top!
You are also an amazing big sister. You are so sweet (usually!) to Orion and are always trying to take care of him. Each morning at daycare, you ask that I put him down so you can walk him to his class. You grab hold of his hand and you both walk down the hall and it truly is the sweetest thing. The teachers have told me that they normally don't let siblings stay in the classroom, but they let you, because you actually play with Orion. You try and hold his hand when we are driving, and calm him down when he is crying. We have been going through a lot of renovations at our house and you had to sleep in Orion's room a couple of nights. He is not sleeping through the night yet, so when he woke up, it woke you up, and you got up, patted him and tried to calm him down. I truly hope that you both are always this loving and close to one another. It is really special to watch!
Right now I am also loving bed time as usually it is a "mommy" night and I put you to bed. I know I should make this a faster process, but honestly, I love every second of it. We read one book (though you usually con me into more), sing one song (which you also con me into more), and then I pat your back for 5 minutes (which turns into 15), before you finally fall asleep (or I have been in your room for 30+ minutes and I say goodnight and leave). This is the time when you usually tell me your day and your stories of your palace and I love just snuggling with you as you fall asleep.
I am so proud to be your mommy and of all the things that you do! I just love watching you figure things out. I know I have used this word a ton, but you truly are amazing, my love!
As I say each night, I love you to the moon, to the stars, and to the planets, always and forever!

3 Years Old!
Aurora,
I can't believe it, but somehow you are now 3 years old! I still vividly remember leaving for the hospital to have you as if it was yesterday, and now I look at your smiling, mischievous face and don't know how the time went so fast!
You are such a clever girl. I know that we are going to be in big trouble when you are older! You are already a master manipulator and are a pro and finding ways to get what you want. Just the other day, we told you that you couldn't bring a toy into the car. You took that and said ok. Then 5 minutes later, you said that you needed to bring the toy because Orion was crying and this would make him happy. So, clever, but we saw through you! Sometimes, we give in, like when you ask for another story at bedtime. Which you also found a work around. I would tell you, only two books tonight. I would read two books and turn off the light, you then ask for one more story, but with my voice. Clever girl again! :) I love watching how you find these ways around and watching your mind work.
I LOVE that you love to read. It makes me so happy seeing you sitting with a book looking through it. You are getting better at pointing out different letters. You tell us the all time that you can't read yet and are sad about it. So, we are working on it and I bet by the time you are 4, you will have some words down :) You also love going to the library and the bookstore, which are the best stores, so we go often. I love watching you choose your books, you like a wide variety so it is fun. I can't wait to start sharing some of my favorite books with you! :)
You are very verbal. So many people comment to us on how verbal you are. You crack me up with your stories that you tell, and especially all your hand movements! You are very expressive! At the moment, you are very big into putting your hands on your hips, which looks hilarious. You also tend to be a bit of a nark at school telling the teachers anytime someone doesn't listen. Which, on one hand I am happy you are following the rules, but I do worry for the future as kids don't tend to like being told on! We will see how this unfolds! You can now count to 20, say the alphabet, and sing lots of songs! You love to sing and dance. We just signed you up for dance and I can't wait to watch you!
It seems you have gotten my palate for food and therefore really hate vegetables. We try and try, but you refuse. I can't really blame you as I don't like them either, but I eat them or your benefit, so hopefully you will eat them soon. You are also the slowest eater ever! I thought I was slow, but you are like a bird just pecking at your food. Most meals, we have to remind you multiple times to keep eating, please eat, just one more bite, so on and so forth. We will see if this is just a phase or not!
One of the very exciting things you did this year was master the potty! Yay! We put you in pull ups early in the year and you did great with it! We could have switched you out earlier, but we had a big vacation and were worried so we kept you in pull ups a bit longer. But, once you made the switch to underwear, you went all in and declared you were a big girl and have rarely had an accident. Only two that I can think of and both times you were very distracted and knew you needed to go, but didn't want to leave what you were doing. You also have had only one at night time, which is also amazing. We are so proud!
You also have quite the fashion sense! I am not sure where it came from as it wasn't me! You love shoes and picking out your dresses and socks. You are very opinionated and your clothing choice each morning is one area you like to assert your self. We just let you wear whatever you choose as I don't care if you match or not, but you usually do and are really good at choosing outfits. Dresses are your favorite as you love to look pretty you say.
This year for your birthday, you were very lucky and had 3 parties. You said it was because you were turning 3, and I told you this year only! You first celebrated in your preschool class with Popsicle and you got a book for a present. You loved everyone singing and of course getting to have a Popsicle! Then, we took you to Disneyland for your birthday and you had Uncle Justin visit as well as Auntie Liz and Grandma and Grandpa! You were so excited! You rode Autopia with Uncle Justin and then a lot of rides with Auntie Liz! And then on your actual birthday, we had a party at the Library Park and had Rapunzel come and visit. You were in heaven. When she walked up, your face just lit up and you were in awe that she was there. It was so worth it for that right there!
I love you my amazing, bright, beautiful, clever girl! I can't wait to see what this year brings us. I know it will be an amazing adventure as everyday is an adventure with you! :)

2 and a half years old!
Aurora,
You amaze me each and every day! I cannot believe that you are now two and half years old. It still feels like you were just a baby to me. And yet, you are now talking full sentences and have no problem telling daddy or I what you think! You feed yourself, are starting to dress yourself and basically have just become this little person over night.
I am so happy that you have continued your love of books. If we would let you, you would read 100 books each night before bed! But, that was taking too long, so we had to cut down our number of books :) Though you have gotten sneaky lately and will have us read you books and then once the lights are off for bedtime, you then ask for a story. You love to have us tell you Goldilocks and the 3 bears, The 3 little pigs, and Hansel and Gretel. You like to chime in as well with what happens next in the story. It is so cute when you do The 3 Little Pigs and do the Huff and Puff part and the chinny chin chin part. If I could read to you all day, I would!
You also seem to be taking after your daddy, and have grown an appreciation for playing board games. You seem to really like the cupcake game and you also like to "play" with some of daddy's games. I know he is so excited to be able to play games with you!
You found a new love as well, and that is Paw Patrol. You have become obsessed with Paw Patrol. So, we have watched that a few times! At the moment your favorites are Everest and Skye. You still enjoy watching Sofia the First as well. You have also started to want to watch some of the Classic Disney movies like Beauty and the Beast, Bambi, and Dumbo. I loved it when one night, you decided you wanted to get dressed up as Belle, and put on her dress. Then you came out fully decked out and requested to watch the movie. As that is one of my favorite movies, I loved watching you enjoy it! I love being able to share my love of Disney with you!
You also got to move up to the Preschool last month! You are SO excited to be in Miss Cheryl's class. Daddy and I had to convince the school that you should move up, but luckily, they realized how ready you were and agreed. So, the beginning of February, you officially moved to the preschool. You love being able to go on walks and field trips to the Fire Truck that is on campus. You are also with you friends again, which makes you happy. Ryder seems to be your best friend, though you guys seem to go back and forth each day on if you actually like each other or not! You also like to play with Ellie, Miles, Paul, and Layla. You are also doing the Tumble Bee Bus at school once a week. You LOVE being on the bus and playing and learning how to do monkey bars. I am so happy that they bring this to the school for you to enjoy!
You light up my world, Aurora. I don't get as much time with you as I used to, but I love our time each night when we go to bed. It is one of my favorite parts of the day, laying there reading you books and watching you fall asleep. I know I stay in your room longer than I should, but it is the only time I get with just you and I cherish it! I love you to the Moon and Back and always and forever!

Blink
Don't blink, if you blink you will miss it. In just the blink of an eye, somehow my little baby girl has grown up and become a big girl. Today she started preschool! Technically she is starting early but all her friends move up to the Preschool in January but because she wasn't two and a half yet they left her behind in the toddler room. She was ready, we knew she was ready, her teachers knew she was ready, and so we went and talked to the director who agreed that she was ready for the big girl class! She was so happy this morning when I dropped her off and got to take her to the big girl yard. She immediately ran over to show me the new music toys and found her friends and I just sat there and watched her and couldn't believe that my baby girl is such a big girl now!
Also in the blink of an eye, she is finally potty training. One day she just decided she was going to do it and that was that. So we have about a full month now of her fairly consistently using the potty. We still have a few accidents here in there but overall during the day she tells us when she needs to go and she is good to go. I finally packed up her diapers yesterday and realized she was not going to be in them ever again. It was very sad but at the same time so exciting as I watch her continue to grow and become this amazing little girl.

2 Years Old!!
Aurora,
I am in denial about the fact that you are two. It just doesn't seem possible that you are already two! I can still remember you being born so clearly, and it does not feel like two years ago! Though on the other hand, I can't really remember a time that you were not in our lives either, so in some ways, it seems longer than two years. Either way, these past two years have been amazing with you!
Your speech and vocabulary amaze us every day. You talk non-stop and can count and say your colors. You LOVE to read books, which makes me so happy. You are often confused for being older than you are because people see you talking so much! You also love to sing all the time. We were in Target last weekend and you were belting out songs as we strolled through the whole store. I hope you keep this up as it is adorable and so much fun. You usually sing Disney songs and this past weekend you learned Hakuna Matata! It was one of the cutest things I have seen (though I may be a bit biased!).
You are VERY excited for your birthday as you understand that you get to go to Disneyland! Your favorite is It's a Small World, and you sing this song and request it to be played at all times. I really hope you also keep this love of Disney and always want to continue going to Disneyland. You told me the other day that you want to work at Disneyland! So, we will see if that continues to be true as you grow up!
You really enjoy being outside, whether that be on a walk, swimming in the pool, or playing in the sprinklers! We try and do a couple walks each week before bedtime, and man, we do not need a personal trainer when we have you around! You tell us on our walks to, Run Daddy, Run Mommy, and are keeping us all fit! :) You also are learning what it means to cross the street, and will now tell us, look left, look right, proceed with caution! I just hope you remember it when we are not around!
I think your favorite thing this past year, was probably Frozen. You seemed to get the Frozen fever and want to watch, play, or read about Anna, Elsa, and Olaf. You enjoy other princesses as well, but I would say overall this past year, Frozen has been the clear favorite. I was surprised though when I asked what you wanted to be for Halloween and you answered Rapunzel! I have asked you this for many days now and the answer stays the same, so I think we will have a Rapunzel this Halloween.
You have been very kind to us these past few weekends as I am still really tired, I bring you to bed and you just snuggle with me for a bit. Sometimes, I put on a Disney movie on my phone and you just snuggle and I love it. Such a great way to start our weekends!
I am so proud to be your Mommy. I am constantly being told when we are out how mature you are and how happy you are and how great you are! I know all these things to be true, but it is always nice to hear! You truly have added so much to our lives and I love watching you grow and learn and can't wait to see what you have in store for us this next year. I look forward to seeing how you react as a Big Sister (hopefully well!) and take on that new challenge. You have another year ahead of you in the Toddler room where I know they are working on challenging you each and every day!
Aurora, I love you more than words can describe and more and more each day. Thank you for these wonderful two years and all the joy you have brought. I just know each year will just get better and better! :)
Love you always and forever,
Mommy

23 Months!
Aurora,
One more month and then you will be two. I am not sure how this happened! Where did my little baby go! You are such a big girl now!
In fact, we moved you this past month to your own big girl bedroom. I was a bit nervous about it, but we had been talking it up for awhile now, how you will move to your "Tiki Room", so when it came time to move, you did great! I was very surprised and happy to see how well you adjusted to your new room. You also, thank goodness, have decided to stay in bed and have not roamed out of it yet. I think adding the bed rail has helped, but either way, that was my big worry and so far you have stayed in bed. You also have stayed sleeping and haven't woken up in the middle of the night or earlier than normal, which both daddy and I are very thankful for! We are still transitioning though so most of your clothes are still in the nursery. Your dresser was just delivered, so hopefully soon you will be fully moved over to your new room. You have also taken well to the new routine needed to go to bed in your new bed. We had to cut out rocking as the rocking chair is in the nursery. You have only panicked once about that, which I was not sure how you would handle that as you love to rock. Instead though, I climb into bed with you and lay with you while you fall asleep. I know I should not stay with you as long as I do, but I know my nights of having just you are coming to an end soon, so I am soaking up as much just Aurora time as I can.
I know I say this every month, but you truly do amaze me each and every day. You are getting so smart and are talking SO much. You speak now almost always in sentences, which is amazing. You also are learning how to ask for things, which is important. You sometimes forget your please and thank yous, but we always remind you, and you are getting better and remembering on your own. You also will count now and have started to say your colors (though most things tend to be green!). Your counting is what really amazes me. I am shocked every time you do a countdown and do it correctly!
You also hit the tantrum stage a bit this past month. I know they say this is normal for two (or in your case almost two year olds), but I hope it is a quick stage! You really can go from totally find, to a major meltdown in 2.5 seconds. We try and not give in to the tantrums, but sometimes, to be honest, I am tired, so I will cave! Luckily, most tantrums seems to be at least short and you do not do the drag out lay on the ground and kick your feet forever type. You will lay on the ground and pout, but we can usually distract you out of it quickly enough.
This month was also the first time you became "scared", or at least you were able to verbalize it to us. You get a bit clingy and just say, I scared. We hold and comfort you. I actually wonder sometimes if you are really "scared" or you just like the attention. You tend to talk about it a lot afterwards. Same with when you get "hurt". You will talk days later about something that happened to you at school or if you fell down. You haven't gotten majorly hurt, but it seems to leave an impact on you as you bring it up a lot. I think it is because during these times you get a lot of attention, but what do I know!
I look so forward to this final month of you being a one-year old and look very forward to what being two will bring! I know you will continue to amaze me each and every day. And I am thankful every day that I get to be your Mommy. When you give me a hug, it is truly the best feeling in the world! Those little arms wrapped around my neck, I cherish each and every moment! I love you more than words can describe!
Love always and forever,
Mommy

22 Months!
Aurora,
This year seems to be going faster than last year! I am struggling with the fact that in 2 months you will be 2 years old! This is just crazy and does not seem real. Yet, here we are, and you are now 22 months old. You are really starting to look more and more like a little girl and all "babyness" is really leaving you.
You, as always, continue to amaze me. You are so smart and lately have been using your smarts to get you what you want! You know if you ask Daddy for one more dinosaur book, he will read it to you. You also know when you are about to be in trouble and will suddenly run up and give us a hug and say, I love you.
Though, you have started to become a bit more of a troublemaker lately. You have really started to test your boundaries and the rules. The other day, I told you not to touch something, you stared at it, stared at me, I know you knew what I said, and then you deliberately touched it. Of course that meant a time out, which you do not love. What we really need to work on is you running away in parking lots! You seem to think that is a playground and you give me a heart attack each time you try and dart out into it. No matter how many times we have said to hold hands, not to run in parking lots, for some reason, you see it, and try and break free and run!
While your trouble maker streak is coming out, you are still the sweetest (I am not biased at all!). You want to have me read stories to you all the time, which I love! You love to play with your dolls and push them around in your stroller. You also now will come up and pat my tummy and say, Hi baby, which of course is the cutest thing ever. You like to go on walks and love to be outside!
We now have a very good night time routine for you as well. You just started taking baths in the "big girl" bath and you love it! You will point out all the animals in the tub, my favorite being how you say octopus (apple-puss). It is adorable and so we ask you to name that one all the time! You then always need your blankie and an animal with you. It was Mickey Mouse for quite a while, but the past week you have become obsessed with a triceratops (ceratops) that you got. I think this is because daddy plays dinosaurs with you all the time and you two are always roaring at each other! You call him daddysaurous as well sometimes! You two are so cute to watch playing together!
One of my favorite things you started doing this past month was singing! You would in the past sing a long occasionally with us, but now you will just start singing on your own. Your favorite songs at the moment are It's a Small World (you sing this the most), Twinkle Twinkle Little Star, and ABC's. I really need to record you singing soon, I just haven't been able to capture it just yet!
I look forward to these last two months of you being 1! I have been teaching you to do the number two with your fingers and asking how old you will be on your next birthday! I love you my little dinosaur princess! You light up my life and make me so happy each and every day!
Always and forever,
Mommy

21 Months!
Aurora,
I am sorry, I missed your 20 month update. May is a busy month and suddenly it was June! But, you were amazing as always, so don't worry! :)
You crack me up on a daily basis! The facial expressions and comments you make are just hilarious. I swear, every time I turn around, you have learned a new word. You really enjoy being silly and then saying, "Look at me! Look at me!" until we look at you and tell you how silly you are! You have also started to say, now, mine, and go away. So, we are working on manners and being nice as well. Though, I am still very proud because more times than not, you will say please when asking for something and thank you, once you have gotten something. There are still many times when you are having full conversations, but I just do not know what you are saying. Often times, this comes with much finger pointing to get a point across. I just nod my head and say, oh really, wow, and hope that was the appropriate response for what you were saying!
You really love your dolls as well and usually have at least one stuffed animal in your bed with you. You also still use your pacifier at night and ask for you blankie. Though you don't see to care what blanket it is, as long as you have one. We are working on slowly taking the pacifier away, but will probably wait until your molars have all come in before officially taking it away. You also really enjoy coloring and we now have crayons all over the living room.
My favorite activity you do though is reading. You LOVE to read and it makes me so happy! We have to read at least two books a night, though you always try for more. Actually, you have become quite the distractor when it comes to bed time. You will do anything to delay bedtime. Most nights we will cave and read a third book, just because we love to read to you!
You are also so smart (and while I am biased, your teachers tell me all the time how smart you are so I know it is true!). You are starting to say your colors, you will count to three (though you still occasionally like to skip two and go right to three!), you can name all the princesses (another proud mommy moment), and can name most animals and the sounds that they make. And that is just the stuff I can remember at the moment!
You have become quite the picky eater though, and I wish you would go back to eating most foods! All you want to eat now is cereal, granola bars, fruit snacks, and luckily all fruit. So, basically, you have fruit for meals and then we attempt to get you to eat the rest of whatever it is. Lately, you have been starting to eat sausage, so we have been making that, but it is still hit or miss. You do not like pasta or potatoes (so sad as I can make those easily for dinners!) and you will rarely eat vegetables. I even eat my veggies, to be a good example, and you still do not (which to be honest is quite annoying!), but we keep trying. Hopefully, you will decide to eat a variety of foods again!
You are now sleeping most nights from 8pm-7am. For some reasons you seem to know when it is the weekend and wake up earlier and I wish you would sleep in a bit more on those days! You also have now had a cough for what feels like two months. It is usually only at night and we keep trying things. I put the diffuser in your room and that helps, but it only runs 4 hours, so I have to replace it in the night because as soon as it stops, you cough again. So, I am finally buying an 8 hour one (which I should have done awhile back!). Hopefully, the cough will go away. Some have said it is allergies, others that it is still lingering from your cold awhile back, but who really knows. If it doesn't get better soon, we will go back to the doctor. But, during the day, you are happy and healthy and no issues whatsoever!
You have also become a big fan of Disneyland (you really know how to make your mommy proud). A could weeks back, you walked up to me and said, I am going. I asked you where you were going to and you said, I am going to Disneyland (so proud). So, a couple weeks later we took you! You ask to go all the time now, and luckily we have passes so we can go. You LOVE the Tiki Room, and when you get your big girl room this summer, it will be a Tiki Room! You seem to be happy about that decision as whenever we ask you about your new room, you get very excited and tell us it will be a Tiki Room. So, hopefully, when you do move, it goes smoothly! You are also a big fan of It's a Small World and will now very cutely, sing the song! It is probably the most adorable thing ever. I really need to record it!
Actually, you have been doing a lot of singing and dancing lately, and it is just too cute! You also "hop" which is adorable. You can't actually hop, but do more of a skip type movement, but you say "hop hop" every time you do it in the sweetest voice! We have also started to try and do more walks at night (to help tire you out) and you seem to really enjoy those. Hopefully, we can keep up with doing them.
Lastly, you found out that you are going to be a big sister! I know you do not really understand what that means yet, and you still have 5 months until the baby arrives, but I know you will be a great big sister! I am sad that we are going to lose this one on one time with you, but know that seeing you with your baby brother/sister will be so amazing and I know you will love them so much. You already say "nigh nigh" to the baby and sometimes "hi" to the baby in the morning. It melts my heart every time. So, these last 5 months that it is just us though, I am going to truly cherish and soak in as much, Aurora time as possible. I know you won't even remember this time as you get older, but we want to make it as special as possible as we are in our last months as a family of three.
Love you always and forever, more and more each day,
Mommy

Worst Mother
So, I feel like the worst mother every. I was playing with Aurora and lifted her up and swung her around from her hands. Now, I know not to do this, I have even told my husband not to do this, so I do not know what possessed me to do it. So, I set her down and she suddenly starts crying and saying ouchie. She was holding her wrist and so I put some ice on it and she seemed to like that. She stopped crying and we sat and read books and she kept making sure that the ice was on her wrist. I noticed though that she was not moving her arm. I tried to distract her and then get her to move it and she would move her hands and could lift her arm. By this point, it was past her bedtime and she started to get really cranky and asking for nigh nigh. So, we put her pajamas on and I rocked her and she fell asleep. I was worried about her but as she seemed to fall asleep, I assumed she was not in pain. I also knew we had her 18 month check up early the next morning and I could ask more about it then. Well, when she woke up, she wasn't moving her arm. We again got her to pick things up with her hand, but she wouldn't lift her arm up. I was in a panic and thought I had broken her and felt awful. So, we head to the doctor.
Apparently, she had what is called, nursemaid elbow. Basically, her elbow tendon had popped out of place. And I know officially feel like the worst mother. The doctor had to pop it back in which was very loud. Aurora cried, but only for a minute and then was using her arm as if nothing had happened. I was so relieved! The doctor said this is very common and to not feel bad, but I still do.
Lesson learned, never, ever, swing a kid around by their arms/hands!

18 Months!
A,
A year and a half year's old! Already halfway through another year. They always say time flies, but I never knew how true that statement could be!
You had a big change this month as you had your last day in the Infant room and officially moved to the Toddler room. You were very ready for this change though, so I know you are going to do just fine in your new room!
You also learned a new skill this month - singing! It is so adorable! At the moment you will sing along to Let It Go, from Frozen, and It's a Small World, the song from the ride. You also are dancing a lot more and ask to watch Elsa. I love seeing you get into the music and hope you appreciate musicals and Disney as much as I do :)
Your talking also continues to grow. You have become quite the little parrot and we really need to start watching what we are saying! Some words you say are clear as day and then others I still need to decipher (such as what sounds like pot pie to me really means pacifier). And then of course you sometimes go off on your own Aurora language that I have not been able to interpret at all!
We can see that you are going to be tall as you are the youngest in the class now, but you are one of the tallest. You are wearing starting to wear 2T clothing already and many of your 18 month pants are turning into capri's for you. It is time to do another closet clean out!
You are also quite the mountain goat as daddy would say, as you are now climbing on everything! You can get up on the couch on your own and try and climb pretty much anything that you think is climbable. It is fun to watch, but also scares me as some places should not be climbed!
You are very fearless in some areas (such as climbing), but are still a bit shy around people. Especially, if we are in a large crowd, you tend to hang back with my until you understand the situation. Once you are comfortable though, you join in with full gusto! I am curious too see if this is a stage or if you will be shy as you get older.
I look forward to watching and seeing what you learn and do this next month! I have never felt greater joy that watching you, reading with you, and now singing with you. I love you with my whole heart always and forever!
Love always,
Mommy

17 Months! (and a day!)
A,
Here we are, another month that has flown by! You has a very busy month. You participated in your very first run! We did the Star Wars Disney Run at Disneyland. Daddy, Grandma, and I did the 5k and then you did the 100 meter dash! It was so much fun to be apart of it all. We then also spent two days at the parks. We did Ariel's Grotto for the first time with you. You were so funny! When the princesses were far away, you would point and be excited, and then the second they got close to you, you would clam up and not smile but just stare. You have also gotten bitten by the Frozen bug! You seem to love Elsa and ask to watch her now all the time. We actually went and saw Elsa, but you did the same thing where in line, you were very excited, but then I think you get star struck and again just stared when we actually saw her and Anna!
I am going to start with sleep this month, because you are actually sleeping! It is lovely for everyone :) You have now been consistently sleeping through the night, which makes mommy and daddy very happy! You still have a few nights here and there where you wake up, but it is not bad and you usually settle yourself. So, bedtime is now bath, book (usually), and then bed between 7:30-8 and you wake anywhere from 6-7am.
This month, we finally said goodbye to "mama milk". We had been working on weaning fully, but the last to go was the right before bedtime feed. You did much better than I thought you would! I think it was harder on me than it was on you! We still snuggle before bed, but mama milk is now officially gone. You are doing really well on the goat's milk though, which is good. We will try cow's milk again someday, but for now, we are going with what works! And you seem to enjoy it, which is what really matters. You have become a better eater as well. Before, you had the feast or famine thing going on, but now, you pretty much eat well at every meal! Blueberries are still your favorite as well as beans. You also still love your pouches and we will give you one if we feel you haven't eaten enough as we know you will eat one of them!
You are becoming more and more you own person and it is so fun to watch you grow! Your personality really cracks me up sometimes. You are talking more and more and have really gotten used to the word, no. You like to say it, a lot. But, you also have been saying please and thank you, more and more, which that I am happy about. You also will say two. You won't say one, or three, but if we countdown, you will always chime in with two! You also make up your own dances now which are of course the most adorable thing I have ever seen.
Watching you grow and learn really is the best thing I have ever done. I am truly grateful that I get to be your mommy (and I know daddy feels the same - even though you have not been very nice to him and say no to him when he tries to give you kisses!). I look forward to each and every day with you and watching you to continue to grow into the toddle you are becoming.
Love you always and forever,
Mommy

Parenting Fail - How we made our daughter afraid of birds
So, we may have accidentally installed a fear of birds into our daughter. We were out to breakfast yesterday and we sat outside. This place tends to have a lot of birds flying around, which has never bothered Aurora before. So, yesterday though, she had an extra crumby croissant that got all over her. Now, we know Aurora is picking up more and more and understanding more and more, but we sometimes forget that, and we forget that she doesn't understand jokes. So, when my husband jokingly said, Aurora, those birds are going to come eat you with all those crumbs on you. I think she understood what was said, but not that it was a joke. Because, suddenly she started pointing at any bird nearby and getting visibly upset. We had to shoo the birds away and tell her the rest of the meal that she was ok and that the birds were not going to get her...
So, hopefully, this has not installed a life long fear of birds into her!

The Last Night (Our Journey has ended)
So, our journey has finally
come to an end. Last night, was the last night that I will have breastfed
Aurora. We had been slowly weaning since December. She handled all the other transitions
pretty well. The morning one, which we removed at the beginning of the year,
she handled much better than I thought she would. She had a few fussy days, but
overall, did really well. But, this one, the right before bed one, I worry.
She LOVES her right before
bed feeding. Last night she was crying and trying to pull me to the rocking
chair to start it right away, rather than to read a book first. We did finish
the book, and then for one last time, we had our night time feeding. Now, these
feedings have been getting shorter and shorter where they were lasting less
than 5 minutes. But, I think she knew something was up, because she stayed on
much longer this time. And then when she did finally finish, she just laid her
head there and looked at me.
I had done really well at not
getting emotional, up until that point. When I rocked her as she sucked on her
pacifier and I tried to get her to sleep. The tears just ran down my face. I
thought back to all the times I had fed her, many right in that chair rocking
her, and just was sad and happy at the journey we had taken.
It was a long journey. Longer
that I ever thought it would be. I was very nervous about breastfeeding and I did
not know if I could do it. But, I tied and I kept at it, and with some help, we
got into a really nice rhythm and I really enjoyed being able to feed and
nourish her. I enjoyed those cuddles before bed. And while I enjoy my sleep
now, I do sometimes miss those middle of the night quiet feeding sessions (not
the middle of the night crying won’t go to sleep sessions!). I made it through
a year of pumping at work and dealing with the panic of not having enough milk,
of then feeding past on year and getting all the comments about why aren't we
done, and now here we are 16 and a half months later finally finishing this
special journey.
I think she knew at some
level that something was up, because she woke up many times in the night
screaming, MOMMY, over and over again. It breaks my heart because I know that
is how she felt a special connection to me and how I could easily comfort her.
Now, my hugs and kisses will have to be enough. I know the next few nights will
be rough, but we will get through, and just lead her into the next stage of her
being the big girl that she is becoming.

16 Months!
A,
Another month has flown by! This month went particularly fast because of all the holidays. It was, as always, an amazing month, watching you grow, and grow, and grow!
I am going to start with the one thing I am very excited about, and that is sleep. Yes, glorious sleep! You are now sleeping through the night! It has been wonderful and amazing. You still will wake some nights, but usually we do not have to go in and you will settle yourself back down. Even these past two weeks when you have been sick, you will cough in the middle of the night, but again, will settle yourself. It has been wonderful!
You had started to wake up the past couple days by standing up and just saying, Hi, Hi, Hi, into the monitor. It was a wonderful way to wake up. I hope you continue this morning ritual. I did just change your morning ritual on you though, which you are not happy about. We just stopped the morning feeds with mama. You actually did amazing the first day, but I think it helped that Grandma was there to distract you. The last two days, you did not like that I gave you a sippy cup. But, I know in time, you will forget and move to just a sippy (and then we will work on nighttime!).
You have become a great eater. You started out with feast or famine days. Some days you would not eat anything and we finally would cave and give blueberries, because it was the only thing you would eat. And then other days you just ate, and ate, and ate. Lately, though, you have been having more feast days, which makes me happy as I know you are then getting all the good stuff that you need! You also have become in love with "Elmo" which is crackers in a box with Elmo on them. I assume daycare showed you Elmo, because we never did, but you certainly know who he is!
You still love your Disney as well (probably because that is all I show you!). You got to see Disney On Ice this month and go to Disneyland again. You had a great time at both! Disney on Ice, we were not sure if you liked it or not as at first you just sat on Grandma's lap and stared, but then in the second act, you were pointing and waving. I think you were just taking it all in at first. Then, Disneyland was on Christmas Eve as is our family tradition. You did so great! We went on rides, saw the parade, and walked around the lands. You didn't nap until 5pm as you were enjoying it so much. You finally fell asleep when Uncle Garrett held you.
Christmas Day was at our house. Santa came to visit and you got a Train Set which you LOVE. We also got you a Princess Castle that you can play in and you seem to really enjoy playing in, especially when we put your princess castle inside the big one. Or, if we sit in with you and read. Your other favorite toy this Christmas is probably your baby doll, you hold your "Baybee" around the house and even into the car at times. A few times, we even had to feed the baby before you would eat!
You seem to have stopped caring for the potty. Not sure what caused it, but you don't seem to want to go in the potty anymore. Oh well, no rush there! I do think though once you move up to the Toddler Room and see the "big" kids using the potty, you will go right back to it. Right now, you are the oldest in the room, and just in the 30 minutes I saw you there today, I think you hit all three babies... so, you still are not loving having babies around! You really like the older kids. You had a great time with your cousins on Christmas Day and New Years Eve/Day, especially Freya. She really loves you and wants to spend every moment with you, and you seemed to be pretty happy playing with her as well.
This month, I think was one of the funnest months. You are becoming so independent now, or at least trying to, and it is so amazing to watch. At dinner, you always ask for a spoon (poon), and try really hard to eat with it. You now say Please (pees) and Thank you (dank yu), and so many other words. You also have conversations with yourself that I wish I understood as it would be amazing to hear what you are saying. But, still fascinating all the same! You truly are the joy and light of our life! Daddy and I love you so much! You just started giving out hugs and kisses and it is probably the best thing in the world to feel your little arms wrapped around my neck and to get a kiss on the cheek! I look so forward to seeing what fun adventures this month brings us :)
Love always and forever,
Mommy

Sleep... It is a beautiful thing!
So, I fear in writing this that I am going to jinx it, but Aurora has been sleeping through the night for the past two weeks! It has been AMAZING!!! To get to sleep for 6-7 hours in one stretch, is just awesome! Granted, I am getting up between 5-6am, but after getting 6 hours of sleep!! This has not happened in over 15 months! So, life is very grand indeed! :)
Now, it could be a coincidence, but this started happening when I started to use essential oils on her. I finally decided to get DoTerra Essential Oils as I had been interested in them for awhile. Well, I got the box and that first night, I put OnGuard on her feet. Now, this oil is not meant to help with sleep, but rather to help be an immunity boost and to help fight infections. But, that night she slept, all night long. And then again the next night, and here we are two weeks later...
Now, my husband calls this hokum. Which it very well may be. But, hey, it worked, so I will just keep on using it, just to be safe!
Update: I have still been using it, and she has still been sleeping well! Last night in fact, she slept 12 hours!! And she woke up happy. This past month has been just fantastic! Again, could all be a coincidence, but I am going to keep at it and just bought my second bottle to make sure I don't run out!

15 Months!
I have all these other blogs I plan to write, but never have time to write to them. I am determined to keep up with these letters though, so here we go!
A,
My oh my, how you keep us on our toes! Just last night, you learned how to crawl out of your crib! I was shocked to walk in and find that you were waiting for me at the door! We quickly lowered it further and your mattress is now basically on the floor. You were not a fan of this and spent most of the night letting us know your displeasure! I am hoping you get used to it, because you (and us) need sleep! :)
You had quite a busy month this month! You had your first night away from both me and daddy. We went to Cambria to celebrate our 6 year anniversary so Grandma (my mom) came to stay with you! You had such fun with Grandma (Gamma as you call her at the moment) that you didn't want her to leave once we got home! Then over Thanksgiving Week, we went on a family vacation to Hawaii! It was an absolutely amazing trip! You did so well on the plane, only got antsy a bit, but mostly was very calm and relaxed and played with your toys. You really enjoyed looking at all the sights, but loved the water (wa wa) the most! You also liked the geckos that came to visit us at our first place we stayed. You truly made this vacation one of our best as watching your excitement for all the things around you and how you took it all in, was just amazing and made each day so much better!
Right now your diet consists of breastmilk (mama milk) in the morning and before bed and the goats milk during the day. You also eat pretty much whatever we are eating, unless their are blueberries around and then you will only eat them and ask for more!
You are now talking up a storm! We counted the other day and counted over 40 words that you can now say! You really are our little genius! You have started to say people's names which makes them very happy. Grandma of course, and your favorite teacher at school, Miss Cheryl! You love Miss Cheryl and said her name all the time when we were at Hawaii looking for you! You know when we turn into daycare because you now clap your hands and say, Miss Cheryl! It makes me so happy to know that you love your teacher so much as I know you are getting lots of love and attention while I am away from you!
You almost have all your teeth (you overachiever you!). The doctor said this morning your final molar and eye teeth are coming in! After that, you will only have your two year molars that hopefully will wait until you are two to come in! :)
I mentioned sleep earlier, but this is the one thing that eludes you. You do not like to sleep. You still wake up at least once a night. We have tried everything and just keep hoping and praying that one day you will decide to sleep through the night. I know it will happen on your schedule! You already let us know you want things done your way and that you have your own opinions! If I try and put a bow in your hair, you rip it out, but you will bring me a bow to put in, and then leave it in all day!
We love your impish grin as we call it. You know you are doing something you shouldn't and you just give us this little grin as if to say, well, I am cute, so I am going to do this! It is so hard not to laugh and smile back at that face!
Lastly, you have also taken it upon yourself to start using the potty! I already wrote a post about this so won't go into too much detail. But, just like with all things related to you, you only go when you want to. If we try and put you on, no way, you just get mad and walk away. If we are not around, you will sit and go potty like you have been doing it forever!
We love you so much and you have made our lives so much better than we ever thought possible! I crack up when people tell me how much weight I have lost, well, it is easy to do when I am just trying to catch up to you! :) I look forward to another amazing month watching you grow and learn and am just so thankful that I get to be your Mommy!!
Love always and forever,

Proud Mommy Moment!
So, I am a very proud Mommy today!
We were getting ready this morning and normally, Aurora, follows me to her room to get dressed. So, today I was in her room picking her outfit out and realized she was not behind me. I yell out, Aurora, we are going to be late, where are you! I am yelling this as I am walking down the hall and I get to the bathroom. I look over and she is sitting on her little potty reading a book. I walk in and ask her what she is doing and then look down and realize, SHE PEED IN THE POTTY!!! All by herself!! I was shocked and immediately started to praise her and tell her good job and what a big girl she was! But, again, so shocked as I did not expect that to happen! And so proud!! I am love the fact that she was reading on the potty, I find that hilarious! Still though, mostly shock, especially because this was the first time she went in the potty (this potty). We bought her the small potty last weekend because little miss independent did not like us holding her on the big potty anymore. So, we stopped doing that and got her a little one she could use. All week we just say her on it, but she never actually went. We didn't push it as she is still young and I don't really care right now if she does, she just had seemed interested and every time she goes she says, Uh oh, and looks down. She really enjoys sitting on her new potty and carrying it around the house, but again, had never actually gone in it. So, we had not yet even praised her for going in it, and yet, all by herself, she did it!
So, yup, one very proud Mama today! :)
Of course, this could be a one time thing that she never does again, but I am still proud :)

14 Months
Well, there goes another month flown by! I swear these months seem to be going faster and faster!
You have finally hit the 20 pound mark though you are still growing taller every day and are now 31.5 inches! This month you went whale watching, you won a costume contest, you went Trick or Treating for the first time, and had two weeks where you slept till 5am each night (though you haven't this past week!). It was quite the busy month!
Talking: You are learning more and more words every day. Like today, you said purple, and were actually talking about the color purple! It amazes me each time you talk as I still expect you to be my little baby, yet, here you are running around and now talking! Shoes is probably your favorite word at the moment. You love to go find our shoes and walk around the house saying shoes over and over again. I feel this is because you know you need shoes to go outside and this is your way of telling us you want to go outside! Your other favorite word is book, which really makes me happy! You will go pick a book our of your stack and then say book and come sit on my lap so I can read it to you. Granted, you usually only sit there for half the book before you get up and grad a different book to read, but that is ok! You also now say Mama quite regularly which I still get so excited each time you say it. You also say, Dada, pup pup (dogs), wawa (water), and then random words that you repeat back like the other day you said Thank You (thak oo), which shocked Daddy and I!
Activities: You are still little miss active! You want to be outside all the time and you love to run and walk! You are our little wanderer as that is what you do any time you are given the chance. I like to watch you sometimes when we are outside or at a store, and I will set you down and I just watch you wander around. You are so curious and just love to look at everything there is to see. You also love your trains you have to sit and ride on. You push them all around the house (or yesterday around the whole block!) or ride them around. You love to look at flowers and plants and you especially loves birds (burd as you say) or airplanes that fly by. I have only seen a few occasions where you are sitting still and that is only when you have a book that is a flip book and you will sit and turn the pages and flip to see the hidden items.
Sleep: We had a good two week stretch there this month! You were going to bed at 8 and sleeping all the way until 5am! This was quite a miracle for you and made me so happy to finally get sleep. Now, the past 5 days you have gone back to waking up 2 times a night, but I am hoping we can get back to sleeping till 5, or hey 6:30 would be nice too! :)
Food: You love fruit! Blueberries are your absolute favorite at the moment, but pretty much any fruit we give you, you gobble up! Veggies, eh, not so much. You don't seem as interested in that, but we will keep trying! You did seem to like the corn on the cob we gave you! You also really like pork, when we make carnitas, you eat that up so quickly! We try and make it about once a week because you love it so much! Milk has been a bit of an issue for you. I got sick and lost a lot of my milk production so you were quickly forced to real milk. You did not do well on whole cows milk. We were trying coconut milk for awhile which you seemed to like, but it doesn't have all the nutrients you need, so we tried goats milk! This seems to be working pretty well now and you are tolerating it well. I still do breastfeed you at the morning and night time. Eventually, I will stop and wean you, but trying to make sure you really are tolerating the other milks first! Plus, I am not ready to give up completely and admit that you are not my baby any longer!!
Even though you think you are becoming a "big" girl now, you still are my little baby girl! I love you so much and each day you amaze me with what you are learning and doing. I am so proud to be your Mama and look forward to each moment I get with you!
Love you always and forever,
Mommy

Halloween
When we were trying to get pregnant, three Halloweens passed us with no baby. Each Halloween got more and more devastating. All I wanted to was to be able to go Trick or Treating with my child and have fun with them as they got dressed up.
Last year, was my first Halloween with Aurora. And it was really fun to dress her up and take her around to visit, but she was too little to Trick or Treat, and she didn't quite get what was going on. So, this year was the first real year we got to participate and it was AMAZING! It was all the things I had hoped and wished for all those past Halloweens.
Aurora was Maleficent this year! I wanted to do the twist on her name and not do the princess like everyone expected. I made the tutu for the costume and was really proud of my work! She also seemed to enjoy her costume and really surprised me by even keeping her horns on for most of the events!
We went all out this year and did multiple events. The first one we did was our first ever, Trunk or Treat event. We decorated our trunk with all our Halloween decorations and got our candy ready. We did not know what to expect since it was our first time at such an event, but it was really fun! Aurora at first helped pass out the candy to those coming by. She also enjoyed taking candy from our bucket and filling up her bucket! I then did take her around to the different "trunks" and she seemed to have a good time doing that. She really just enjoyed putting things in her pumpkin we got for her to carry around!
We then went to a story time reading with Maleficent and costume contest at our new local bookstore, The Open Book at the Oaks. They had Maleficent read a few stories, which surprisingly, Aurora sat and listened to pretty well. Then we went back up to the store and got to decorate pumpkins and get pictures taken with Maleficent. Aurora really enjoyed decorating her pumpkin. The best past though was the girls working came up to us and said that, Aurora had won first place in the costume contest! I was so excited, especially when I saw the prize was books! Aurora is obsessed with books and already loves looking a them! Plus, since I made part of the costume, I felt some pride that my work was good!
On Halloween, Aurora joined me at my work event. This was the only time she was not Maleficent, but instead was someone from Gryffindor House as I was dressed as Harry Potter, so that way we matched. She seemed a bit unsure being at the party, especially because we walked over with a super creepy court jester. She did warm up a bit at the end though and was wandering around the party checking everyone out!
Then, that night, was what I had been waiting for, Trick or Treating!! We put her back in her Maleficent costume, and right as I was taking pictures of her, she fell and face planted onto the sidewalk! I felt so bad! She calmed down pretty quickly, but her whole face was scratched up pretty bad :( She didn't let it stop her though as we were going to take her back inside, but she started walking down the sidewalk, so we went with it! We only did our street, but that was more than enough for her and she was getting pretty tired by the end. We do seem to have a bit of a dud street though as 4 houses had their lights on but then answered and said they had no candy! One lady felt so bad though that she ended up bringing candy to our house later to make up for it! Aurora also was a big help in passing the candy out to the Trick or Treaters that came to our house once we got back.
Overall, it was an awesome holiday full of fun! It was exactly what I had hoped and envisioned and now am even more exited for next year!! :)
